11 Jan 2021 We Need to Do Something, by Max Booth III
This was a fabulous wild ride! We Need to Do Something, by Max Booth III. Max wrote this book that is intimate and strange, horrifying and familiar all at once. And it MOVES! The character work is detailed and dynamic, the claustrophobic atmosphere launching at eleven and ratcheting up from there. It is surreal and strange and unsettlingly familiar. And though it was written pre-pandemic, it definitely shoots a feeler into all our collective Covid nightmares. Narrating this was like riding a wave.
The cover blurb: A family on the verge of self-destruction finds themselves isolated in their bathroom during a tornado warning.
“Don’t look now but Max Booth III is one of the best in horror, and he’s only getting started.” ~Josh Malerman, author of BIRD BOX and MALORIE
